Gooseneck mount for Delphi SkiFi XM radio.

I have been driving around since Christmas with the SkiFi mounted on an AC vent and the wires wrapped around it....

I have not been happy with it being in my line of sight so I bought a flexible 15" gooseneck arm that attaches to the passenger side seat bolt.
$11.95+ 7.95 shipping I figured it was worth a shot. You can google "Arkon CM-88" A lot of places sell it.

Heres what I got

The parts inside allow for mounting in a variety of ways, I used none of these and just used it right out of the package.

This is the T-slot end that slides into the SkiFi cradle, the entire arm is covered in a plastic sleeve.

This is the business end and the seat bolt without the plastic cover.

It is fairly obvious what to do next. You will need to tighten the 2 small screws on the bracket. Note the larger hex nut at the top of the picture.

Crank down the seat bolt and adjust to taste, Then you tighten the larger hex nut previously mentioned to lock it in place.

I wasn't expecting much for 20$ but I was nicely suprised at how stiff the arm was. Under moderate fingertip pressure the
whole unit moves less than .25" You really have to lean on it to get it to touch the dashboard.

Best thing is now I rest my hand on the shifter for fingertip control. Also the orange glare is out of my eyes at night.

Maybe 20 min to install, I spent more time screwing around with the pictures.
I have had it this way for a week and really like it.

Next I will post about the installation of the Blitzsafe interface (elliminates the cassette thingy) and the hidden power supply.....

I have a similar mount like this for my cell phone in my POS Chrysler. The Arkon mount is cool because the heads are interchangable. I like my cell phone mount and I think I may get something like that when I get Sat Radio.

I used velcro and attached it to the dash almost int he same position you have yours. I do have a small wire to the antenna which I have in the center of the dash. It works very well and I can take it out and carry it in my truck.

I mounted mine in the overhead console......

I "think" I did the picture thing correctly.

:o Heavy,

In your posting is that a power wire running through the middle of your dash? I have a similar mounting in my wife's Maxima and we ran the wire under the dash and came up through the back. We mounted her's in almost the same position except with the mounting bracket mounted on the edge of the console. I do like the flex pole idea and will probably do the same when I add the XM to the MM.

I think what you are looking at is the wire connecting the cassette adaptor to the SkiFi unit. In the last picture with my hand in it the adaptor is in the player. The power supply is from the included cigarette lighter plug that you can kinda see in pic 8 and 9.

The next mod when I get some free time will be to pull the radio and install the Blitzsafe ( direct connection to the head unit ) and finally mounting the power adapter under the dash somewhere.... I want to hide the wires as much as possible
