It was approved in Austin today. After 6/1/05 the state, as a cost cutting measure, will issue only 1 plate per vehicle so a front plate will no longer be required after 6/1.
I think mines coming off this weekend!

A guy from one of the Mustang boards posted the amendment on the Harley truck board and I got an email from a bud whos into Corvettes saying the same thing.

Cool! I'll be legal again. Only 1 of my 4 registered vehicles even has a front bracket on it now.

Hope thats all true, front plates are useless except for parking ticket writers and automatic red light camera's anyway. Also, they look like crap on a car. I just wish I didnt already have those damn holes drilled up front.

Apparently the way the law reads, the one plate law goes into effect after Sept 1, 2005, and does not grandfather cars issued with two plates. i.e. I was issued two plates on the MM, and 'required' to display both the plates issued.
Me thinks that the plates on the MM will dissapear after Sep 1, and I'll end up having to report them stolen.....

Since you will have to pay for REPLACEMENT PLATES anyway,
why not just get a PERSONALIZED Vanity plate instead???
Less hassle and no police report required...

If you dont want to fill in the holes, it can be done, you could buy the hole covers that come on (deep breath here, a ricer part on an MM, sorry) 96-2000 Honda Civics and 2000-06 S 2000s. You can get them black and silver, Hondas silver is the same as Fords, they just push in the plate holes. Hondas do have multi nation bumper so there are 2 prongs on each of the plugs, just cut one off. They should run you under $10.

Those little plugs are great!
I just hope the plate mount didn't rub the paint off the bumper cover.

I was a drop-out, but I went to Iowa State. It's still known as "Moo U" or "Cow College", but at least they had the presence of mind to drop the A&M part of the name about 60 years ago.
My Granny had a '64 Comet, but it was a 2-door sedan, 6-cyl, with a 3-on-the-tree.....and pneumonia hole A/C. Vinyl seats, roll your own windows down, etc. It was homely, but she drove that car for 15 or 20 years.

I was reading on some corvette site the no front plate provision was dropped. Can anybody confirm this? If so, Ill bet it had to do with lobbyists who sell those damn red light cameras because they work off front plates. Anyway, I took my plate off and used those little plugs. Man, there were four lag bolt holes and be advised those plugs are not round but oblong, about an inch long each. They also have a non-glossy finish but they are the right color of silver. They look better than the front plate too IMHO.

If a cop stops you, just point to your mm.net sticker and just say, "Logan said it was okay."
He'll immediately apologize and escort you to your destination code 3.

The red light cameras in Garland take a picture of the ass end of your car. I've been behind cars that ran the red light, and that camera setup they have uses one heck of a bright flash.

If those retards can't figure out a way to finance public education, how do you expect them to address an important and time-consuming issue like front plates.
