I was at the annual car show in Norwich CT today and happened to have a very interesting conversation with the folks from Stage Fright Racin. These fine gentlemen propose to build a new drag strip in the area. They have plenty of cash, and plenty of know-how. The only thing they seem to lack is a location. If anyone out there can help, it would be greatly appreciated. I spoke with them for the better part of an hour, and they are dedicated to this venture. They surely have my support, and I told the I'd post on this and other sites to secure a venue. Any ideas? They'd like to keep it in the Eastern CT area, but are open to other sites. I'll post their website later.

There used to be drag strips in Colchester and Danbury. Maybe they can "resurrect" one of these at a lower cost than building new. Problem is all the stuffy people don;t want a drag strip in their town. Too much noise, traffic, ect. I'd suggest that they hook up with the group that is planning to build a NASCAR track here in CT and maybe do it as a joint venture.

These gentlemen trace their history back to Colechester, a legend there as a matter of fact. Part of their reasoning for a "stand alone" dragwway is to honor this particular legend by naming the track after him. They looked at CT Dragway (Colchester), but most of the land is gone and the NIBY bug has affected the residents big time. One of the big benefits if and when some land is found is to get a handle on the local street racing. As a parent of one of these guys, I'm all for that.

I LUV the idea, however to my knowledge, somebody was just knocked down this year for wanting to do the same. It's the crummy politics in this state. Circle track racing is more popular, and because it tends to draw more spectators, there's more potential money involved than in a dragstrip (unfortunately). Good luck to them, but I'm skeptical as to whether they will be able to pull it off.
