But not by very much. Went to Capital yesterday and was the first in the staging lane. Waht pulls up next to me was a blue 05 GT convertible on 19' Axis wheels...really nice for the car (I wil post pics later). Well it is out time to make it hot and we did. Yellow went green and we got out like bats outta hell. Of course the few hundres pounds and 40+ more horse power were apparent in that I never saw the front of his car but I was never treated to the rear end either. Throught the 1/8 a gained a little ground on him and maintained a half - 3/4 length behind to the finish. He ran a 14.1 @ 98, me a 14.5 @ 95. I didn't expect to be that close and I am sure he didn't either. I also had the pleasure of eaking out a win (being the first to cross the line- loss on the time) against a Dodge R/T pick-up. WE both ran 14.6's. He ran a 14.61 I ran a 14.65. I didn't stick around for a third...had to be to work this morning.

I think that the Mustang owner must have wondered what happened, you did a great job, 0.4 seconds is not much of a difference when you consider the weight diferential. way to represent.

Thanks gents. I considered that a small win for the big guys.

Nice times. But, with your mods you could easily do a flat 14.0 or better with a PI 3000 TC. It is worth a solid 0.5+ sec on the 1/4.

This is Why I want to get a TC. I hear all these great things about it. Looks like I better save a $1000 and take the plunge.

Thanks gents. I considered that a small win for the big guys. Here's a tip for the next trip down the 1320...Fill your front tires to 50 PSI...Our oversized front tires are a real drag at the drag strip, make them as hard as rocks for racing. Try it, you'll like it.

Big House, 'PM' me next time you are heading over to Capitol Raceway...It is only about 20 minutes from my house!
I've got to go back soon, especially now that the weather is starting to cool down.
I'm looking forward to eating some Hemis and Rice....Yumm Yummm!

I ask only because I have no exp. on this.

Isn't that above max? and isn't that bad?

Yeah I second that, Last thing I need is a Tire blowing out at 90mph towards the end of the 1/4

then put 18" 'spare' wheels with real tires on the front .

I think what Mac knows and what I remember reading somewhere, (?) is that our tire pressure, (and most tire pressures) are capable of is much more than what is listed as the safe maximum.
This is a cool idea Mac and I can't wait to try it next time at the track. :D

The Stallion is the next mod going in. A frind on mines back in Memphis beat the hel out of a Mach 1 armed with my listed mods plus a Kooks exhaust and a stallion. I have been told it is definitly good for .5 off the et.

Isn't it amazing how close a race can look when you're on the drag strip? How different cars pull harder than others at different times in the 1/4? How you could swear he only had you by 1/2 the length of your hood...but he ran a 14.0 at 100, and you ran a 14.5 and 95? On paper it seems like a mile, but in reality its only by a hair!

The ultimate insult is when you cross the finish line first and still lose, that's what happened to me here my car is # 78, I had slow R/T the Impala bolted out of the hole way ahead of me.

Notice by the 1/8 mile I am making up ground and at the the end I caught him and passed him...still lost.

Yeah I second that, Last thing I need is a Tire blowing out at 90mph towards the end of the 1/4Hi Merc Fans.. I work at a BF Goodrich Tire plant in Oplelika, Alabama (No, we don't make anything over 16" tires here, RATS!!) and according to the Specs on the G-force KDWS tires that are on our cars, 44 psi is the reccomended pressure, but if you are going to operate in speeds over 118 mph, then you need to increase the tire pressure. The "w" rating (168 mph) requires that you increase the pressure by 7.5 psi and then the load ratings decrease by 15%. That brings the recommended pressure to 51.5 psi. but you can run up to 149 mph:D with the max load rating on the tire. I think the tire rack website should have copies of that info, as well as other technical stuff about other brand of tires too.
Also, Michellin (Yeah, they own my plant) will not allow blems to be sold, even if they are just appearance related. Anything that is not 1rst rate is to be shredded. It is probably more due to lawyers then quality, but the quality standards are very strict.. :burnout:

Democracy Blvd. is in Montgomery County, Md. just off I-270, one exit north of the Capitol Beltway.

BTW, went up to 75-80 last night...it was still warm and humid and the place was ABSOLUTELY PACKED!!!
I only got in two runs because of the crowd and wasn't going to wait two more hours for a third run! :(
I ran a crappy 14.08 @ 98.33 mph with a heat soaked engine (I just pulled in, got tech'd and they called up my lane)
Then I ran a really bad 14.25 @ 100.48 mph...I annialated the tires out of the hole, had to backpedal to get traction, then nailled it again
Man what a waste of $20... :mad2:
I've got to get some REAL tires for this thing or I'm wasting my time drag racing. :burn:

Thanks Joe,

Just get some ten inch wide wheels and some nittos and go rip'em a new one. Have you had her dynoed? I would be interested in what numbers you are putting down.

I got her dynoed at Kaufmanns on the way out to Detroit and MVIII/WDC.
First pull with the stock program netted 293.47 RWHP and 288.43 FT/LB RWTQ.
After tuning I had 317.06 RWHP and 339.78 FT/LB RWTQ. I gained 51+ FT/LBS of Torque! :banana2:
