Something to think about...
In May of this year I bought the new Dodge Hemi 5.7L equipped pick-up truck.
Sold my '01 Dodge with the Cummins diesel. A great engine!!

This past Sunday I was storming along with the Hemi barking with much authority through my newly installed Flowmaster dual pipes when the MIL (malfunction indicator light) warning began flashing on the instrument panel 10 miles from no where!!

I kept driving to a "safe harbor" (my girl friends place), when the engine stalled and would not restart.
Luckily, she lives in the city where I bought the truck and Monday morning I had the truck transported to the Dodge dealer.
Today (Tuesday), the dealer is STILL working to resolve the problem requesting HELP from Chrysler Corp.

Here's the issue: this is a new engine for 2003.
The dealers 'wrenches' do not have enough experience with the new engine to know what the problem is, etc.
Meanwhile, I'm stranded 60 miles from home having to rely on my girl friends generosity (bed/board) while the dealer and manufacturer sort through the engine systems.

New models, new engines, etc. all carry a degree of risk to the 'new' owner, especially where not too many new models are sold. And........
I was feeling rather immune to such calamitys happening to me prior to this event.

The information exchanged on this website is priceless. I feel very confident that should my Marauder, being a new model, etc. experience a similar failure, I can hopefully assist the L/M dealer in resolving it through the information compiled here.
This website is beginning to make REAL sense to me now!!

Well, that's one that got by you LML...

But not to fear - the MM isn't a 'new' design. It's a bunch of old designs, put together in a new way.

Most of the problems we seem to have come from that fact - wiring harness chafing anybody?

Bummer about the new truck though...

Yeah, my stepdad got rid of any fears about the MM being a "new" model when he pointed out to me that the engine has been around for 10 years or so.

Engine: Cobra
Front End: Grand Marq
Rear End: CVPI
Interior: Town Car
Attitude: ALL MM

having to rely on my girl friends generosity (bed/board)

So what exactly is the problem...sounds like bonus plan to me!!!

Let's be honest, this is really just a variation of the "oop's I think I am out of gas story"

I've read a few stories like that about the new Dodge HEMI.
Apparently Chrysler has bought a few back already.

I hope they get yours running again OK

Where'd you get your info? Just curious I am keeping track of the new Hemis and haven't heard any such thing about Chrysler having to buy any of them back. From what 'm reading it is a PCM issue and they are working on a PCM flash to fix it. it is actually Technical Service Bulletin 18-013-03 Don't kno if this is the gents issue or not, but it's worth a go.

I've read it on a couple of internet sites, including a post on BON. That's all I know. There is a chance of course that none of it is true, but I doubt it.

Thx for the lead to the Dodge truck website.
They ARE quite similar to our site...though not quite as active on a daily basis.

Quite a few Hemi "stalling" probs. discussed.
This "flashing" resolution that seems to be the issue is all the rage.
I suppose my truck probs. were resolved much the same way.
Have added approx. 1000 miles since the ordeal without any further incidence.

Its really alarming to find so many new vehicles leaving the factory without a proper "tuning" before customer delivery.
The dealers certainly have their work cut out for them!!

Good advice: Be sure to qualify the dealer before entering into a purchase...you may just need his "service" to keep your vehicle up and running.
Try to meet the dealer principal...its his "bottom line" to keep you satisfied.
