I love my car!
On my latest regular trip down to Bend, Oregon (I volunteer at a horse rescue ranch/youth ranch), I had some great experiences with my MM. I stayed overnight in Manzanita, and took my friend Charlotte to Cannon Beach. There was an exotic car show on the two-block beachfront road, with about 2.5 mil in rides! 11 Ferraris, 3 new Lambos, AMGs, Porches (including a GT-3), Maseratis, and one empty space! Having just driven 400 miles of bug-laden highways from my hometown in Canada, and having to bring Charlotte's Golden Retriever in my MM, it was in no shape to be shown. And of course, a 96 Chev Impala SS took the empty spot as I pondered a photo op. DANG!
Anyways, on the next Saturday, I saw a big car show going on at Roberson Ford in Bend. I had a million things to do, but I pulled up to the gates and asked if they had an MMs in the show. I just wanted to see another one and card him if he wasn't a member on the website. They said "Hey, that's a Marauder, sure, come right in!" I told them I was just visiting from Canada, and my car was in NO shape to be shown. Next thing I know, I'm being directed to a spot where a pressure washer, and 3 guys with washing stuff show up! An airhose blasts all the high-desert dust and dog hair out of the interior, and the exterior is soaped and blown clean in minutes!! Then I got a spot right by the front entrance and popped the hood. (The engine is ALWAYS kept clean by yours truely.)
The response was amazing! I had a million questions from tons of people. And since a crowd gathers a bigger crowd, had to take a picture of it. Turns out you couldn't see the car for all the people around the front end. They had never seen a MM in Bend, but is has an certain affluent demographic with lots of high $$ cars where guys understand horsepower. I could only stay about an hour before I had to pick up Charlotte, but there was a cruise of all the cars to another dealership show later that day. I didn't officially enter the show at any time, but got a "Longest Distance Travelled" award! And a free T-shirt!!:burnout:
