We have decided on the date of Saturday, May 22nd for our annual SSM Picnic. We would like to be able to have it at a mid-Florida location. The Orlando area would be a good location to have other SSM members in the area and North Florida to be able to attend this year.

We need an SSM member in the Orlando area to locate a nice park where we could bring a B-B-Q vendor in for our day-long family gathering. Please contact myself or Zolton, Cobra25 if you are willing to step up and help us out. Thanks.

I'd be happy to help out. Here's a link to many of the Florida State Parks in Central Florida ... http://www.floridastateparks.org/findapark/district-central.cfm. Although a little north, the Ravine Gardens is an awesome place. "A 1.8-mile paved road winds around the ravine" and there's a huge pavilion for indoor eating. http://www.floridastateparks.org/ravinegardens/default.cfm. I could just see a parade of Marauders winding around the loop.

If we wanted to make a really big deal of it, I could talk to one of the Flagler Sherriff's Deputies to provide a motorcycle escort through some of our finer county roads.

Wekiwa Springs offers canoe and kayak rentals while a little closer to I-4.

Another favorite, is De Leon Springs State Park where the water is 72 degrees year round. They have a large pavilions but not enclosed.

Also note, rest rooms near by and ample parking for 30-40 + cars. If the park has a Pavilon for rental and is reasonablely priced thats a plus, if not no problem.

The Ravine park is real nice, great location for me as it's only an hour away.
But we need someone from Orlando to step up I think, as it is a long scoot to Palatka from South Florida, where a good majority of the SSM members live.
Wherever it is I'm looking forward to it and will be glad to help out any way I can.

How about moving the date by a week and having it in Eustis? There is a park right on Lake Eustis Ferran Park, with lots of shade trees, picnic tables, and facilities. There is The Classic Dream car museum just 8 miles away. We could meet there first and tour the museum, then head to the park to eat. Then the Eustis cruise in starts to fill in at about 3:30. Those that want to stay could stay for a while for the show which usually has 300 to 400 cars. Some issues with this plan are: I don't think you can reserve the park but I can ask. I also don't think there are any grills in the park but there are lots of restaurants within walking distance. Just putting this out there!

Sounds good, but the date we have will have to work.

Look for both the Eustis Cruise in and the Classic Dream Cars on the SSM Map

I'm a dumb-a$$. The Cruise in is on the 22! so the date can stay.

Maybe we can get into Old Town for the picnic. We had Marauderville IV there. Maybe a call would be in order.

Old town would be cool but Saturday's are '74 and older so they will want us out by 1PM

They still may be able to accommodate us, you never know. You going to call them?

I'd be interested but have to see how things work out, as my son's birthday is the 16th.
Keep us posted with the location!

Check the yellow push pins on the map. Selargo is where guests stayed for Marauderville IV and Celebration Suites is also very close.

Are they going to kick us out at 1PM or ? BC4E or MarauderTJA, is their an agenda yet? or time frame. Not rushing anyone, please post when you can. Thanks for all your work and coordination, we appreciate it.:bows:

The location is still being work on and we are doing a head count at the present time. The more members we have going the better the price will most likely be. If more of you plan on going please post it up in the SSM head count thread ASAP to help us out. The lowest # of marauder's we ever had at our yearly picnic was around 25-26 . The most was around 40 or so. As soon as a good head count is done we can get the prices and set the exact loction. Then an Agenda will be posted.

I guess my real question is, are they kicking us out at 1PM. I go there quite often and they never have the back lot full. As far as head count, I would really love to go, but right now I am a mobilized Army Reservist and currently stuck here in beautiful Hattiesburg MS. I am going to try to get a pass or leave to attend the picnic. I would like to put on a very good possibility to atted list but, I know that ya'll need hard numbers. Thanks.

No we can stay as long as we would like but we can't do the cruise. We'll have our own area of the lot as a specialty group.

Count me in with at least TWO guests. I think this is the perfect centrally located place for the picnic. Anybody that will make the trip and worry about hotel accomodations - my brother lives about 40 miles to the East in Orange City (I-4, exit 111B) and welcomes anyone that wants to crash for the night. I am going to make a weekend out of it so I will be going there after the picnic anyway. If you're even considering coming - put that baby to bed and just COME! Looking forward to another Lee, Collier and Charlotte County convoy to the picnic. Drop me a PM for contact info. I live in Southern Lee County - lets make this happen!
