Fan noise

What is the sound from under the hood -- after the engine is turned off, key out, and out of the car? ( sounds like a fan motor) Runs for 10 seconds or less.

It probably is the cooling fan; no big deal.

Thats the air compressor for the rear suspension. Mine doe's it too

I thought the air comperssor came on when you first start your MM. I have only heard mine when I start it. I thought the ignition had to be on?

I think you will find this noise is the air LEAVING, not filling. Rear of car drops or settles while this noise is happening :D

If the fan is running when I shut off the car, it does seem to take maybe 10 seconds to spool down...

It is either the fan or air compressor or both from the engine compartment. I have it on my MM almost everytime I shut it down. Nothing to worry about.
