Just as infor I noted the twin fans, If you go on various GN sites and seach fans you see a lot of the GN guys are using (used) Chrysler fans which is a twin already. sorry don't remember the model but the guy's pic them up in the junk yards for a few dollors and work perfectly. Just passing this as info and can save a ton of money.

Running a FrozenBoost Type 100. IATs typically run 20-30* over amibent until summer temps >95*, then it's hard to get IATs under 130*, at least for me.
I'm still thinking about going with the killer chiller.
Waiting to hear from hotford about how he likes his.

Yea that's close to what I'm getting with mine. Based on this crazy weather we might be getting temps back up sooner than later. I was hoping to get ahead of the curve. Thanks for the info.

I was to and had asked if he had any info but I didn't get a response. Based on what I've read about it think I'm going different route. As hot as it gets down here and as much as I sweat I don't want to take away from the cooling of the cabin. I don't like to get SMAMP BALLS! :D

I haven't data logged yet but just watching the IAT's and comparing to before at cruising speeds they are 20-25% lower than from before. When I get into it they drop with about a 40% drop from before. So far so good and am pleased. We will see what happens in the summer.
Cudos to Marty's shop for being able to get installed where it's not visible.

I met Chris at MO's for an inspection and ride along, that setup is killer! Nicest I've seen on a Whipple swap!

That C&R unit does look nice. Have any pics of that heat exchanger installed? How did you mount it in there? Behind the grill or down low?

I didn't want it visible so we mounted in the lower air dam area and behind the bumper. It still has great air flow and the fans pull great! It doesn't hang out the bottom and actually fit in there like a glove.

I did look at that one but decided to go the C&R route. Where did you locate yours? Grill or down low?

It's located in the box, the cardboard box. Have not installed it yet. I will send you picks when it's done. :burnout:

How do you have the fans set? Do they run all the time or turn at a certain temp?

Fans make sense to cool the system on a drag car betweens runs with a switch that will run the pump while the car is shut down. You can trigger the relay in any way you want. The common way is from the IC pump power wire, but others do so manually. Just depends what your want. :) or you can purchase a Electric Fan Thermostat from AFCO.

The fans are only needed at slow speeds and when you are making boost. It would be easy to tie into the HOBS switch that is there for the boost-a-pump on a Trilogy car for the boost part.
I've used one of those AFCO temperature switches on my supercharged Grand Marquis. It only lasted a year before it corroded and quit working. Wound up just wiring a toggle switch off of the accessory power in the end. So, make sure to protect that module from the elements if you would like it to last. Quality isn't as good as it should have been on mine.

I would not wire it through a Hobbs switch because the fans will flick on for a few seconds and then off again unless you are constantly seeing boost.

I spoke to the designer of the C&R unit I got and he said, for peak performance, to wire the fans where they stay on . This is how mine is wired up already.

I would wire them through the ignition switch, which im sure that's how its wired. Definatelly not through a Hobbs switch.

A little late, but, what the heck... Ported Eaton, 3.65 upper, 6lb lower, 14 psi. I believe it was about 60deg out. Show me yours since I showed you mine. :D
(Wideband was fried for this, so ignore that.)

I'm still thinking about going with the killer chiller.

Doom i haven't installed it on the MM yet, but did on my brothers car with great results, picked up 18 rwhp through an auto car, temps under a full pass don't go over 104 and start off at mid 80's.
Most people use water temps on the killer chillers as its more accurate.
funny when at the track the water resevoir temps read a cool 61 degrees but the IAT temps show mid 80's so i adjusted the tune for the warmmer temp, but been told to get more aggressive and run a water temp in the system which would show actual temps, thus allowwing for a more aggressive tune, but I like to walk before I run,....if ya know what I mean.....
for the money the Killer Chiller is a great unit, you dont need a hugh heat exchanger up front with this kit......but sure would be more benifical.....
Oh my brothers car is a cobra motor with a 2.9 whipple making 21 psi so I think the inlet temps are pretty cool with what he has.......

As respects the Killer Chiller how do you collect the condensate to keep it off the track?
For those in hot climates note the higher cabin temps that will result due to 5-7 degrees increase in the in cab temps under optimum conditions.

I wonder about this myself. I get it for on the street, but curious how you don't drag a trail of water from the staging lanes to the start line if you're running one of these at the track.

Run the condenser tube to a low mounted catch can (low so gravity works for you).

I decided to go for it and install a C&R GT500 dual fan cooler on my car too. One word of warning though, YOU HAVE TO CUT AND REMOVE a section of THE FRONT FRAME CONNECTOR / Crash Bar. There just isn't room to fit this without doing so. Crossing my fingers that handling is not substantially effected.
