12:47am. Pulled up to a red light, a dark grey 2002 BMW X5 4.4i was to the left of me. I didn't even bother to look at the owner, I was busy gloating to myself in how my engine was bigger. There was a slight intuition in my mind though, I thought that this X5 was going to try and smoke me, so I had my foot ready, although another part said, "no, he won't do it." Ahead of me was a dark and long straightaway, no end in sight.
The light glares green.
The X5 shoots ahead, delayed, I hit the pedal to the metal. Damn! Slight wheelspin, it's slightly wet. He's ahead! 15mph! NO! my car's losing it! In a flurry of 35mph, the Bimmer is slowly inching ahead, NO NO NO! It's an SUV I can't lose! No, its a BMW, they're made to be fast. This one's got a 0-60 of 7.5! Come on I know my car's faster! YES! my car is gaining, passing him, in the midst of 55mph. I laugh in excitement, I'm nervous. It's that no low-end torque bullsh*t I'm thinking. Many cops Hiding. 70mph whizzes by, I've already won, no need to continue. I drop the accelerator, the BMW flies forward, angry in its defeat. I smile to myself. In street race lingo, I go ahead and obnoxiously mark myself the winner of the race turning on my hazards. Never had a chance.
