What are the warning signs of a starter beginning to fail? It's starting to take 2-3 solid seconds for my MM to turnover and I think it needs looking into. Thanks

You sure it's the starter? How old isyour battery and have checked and cleaned the connections on it?

Check the battery and connections first.

Just out of curiosity. Does it take 2-3 seconds before the starter starts cranking when you turn the key, or is it taking longer for the engine to fire up while cranking?

2-3 seconds of the starter cranking then it fires up, battery is about a year old. I'll clean up the connectors/terminals anyway. Thanks guys

Thats not the starter then. On the side of the throttle body, you'll see a silver cylinder held with 2 bolts and a plug coming out the back of it. Thats the idle air control valve. Remove it and clean it with carb or brake cleaner. That should help your hard start problem.
