They have one here in AZ and it's drone that it carried piggyback. Most people who know the SR-71 never new it had a unmanned drone designed to carry on it's back.

I was working at the control tower in Norfolk NAS and one did a fly by as he was leaving. He flew by and as he got to the tower he turned his flaps for a hard 90 degree vertical , hit the afterburners and was out of sight before you could take a breath. That's some serious BOOST !!

Yep, seen it many times passing by and when I went on a tour of the Space & Rocket center when my sister worked there in late 90's/early '00's also took pic amongst the rockets out back.

I've seen a few of them, the coolest one being at the SAC museum outside of Omaha, Nebraska. I have to find pictures I took of it .

The coolest facts about the SR-71 weren't mentioned in the documentary. The plane leaks fuel all over the runway until the plane gets in the air and actually heats up the airframe to expand and seal the fuel tanks. I've read that there is always a tanker waiting to top off the tanks after takeoff.

Another thing that wasn't mentioned was that it could stretch almost 3-4 inches in flight due to the heat caused by the friction of the air.

A special KC-135Q model was used to refuel it because the SR-71 used a different type of fuel from other aircraft. Most airctaft use JP4, I don't remember what the SR-71 used.
