FYI if you are building a motor...

You will obviously be using an 8 bolt steel crank for the build and will need an 8 bolt flexplate.

Well, that application is from a 2000 Mustang GT with a 'Windsor' engine.

I dont have the part # for you guys, but I do know there are 60 left in the country. I just ordered 2.
After these are gone, at the price of about $45, you will be forced to buy an SFI unit from one of the aftermarket companies for over $200.

    Thought I'd pass it along.

I've heard the F150 has one too.

    Haven't confirmed this though.

Ive heard that a Triton V10 might work, but again no confirmation.

Its the torque converter holes you have to be concerned with.

Yes some of the F-150's use an 8 bolt crank and flexplate. Windsor 5.4's I do believe. But as Zack stated if there are only 60 in country.. well....

I said it once and Ill say it again Drew.
You are not doing yourself any good by putting a cobra shortblock in the car.
If you swap the -18cc pistons out for -3cc pistons, then you will be in good shape.

Other than that, you will need the mm oil pan, pick up tube and front cover.

Ok, if I use the crank, rods, and block from the Cobra and ordered forged -3cc pistons from someplace would that make more sense?

Yes, that will get you back to 10:1 compression.
Then you can sell the pistons on a mustang site and recoop about 200-300 bucks.

You need to be real careful doing this piston swap.
After deglazing the cylinders with a hone, the chance of your piston to wall clearance being within range is not very good.
A qualified shop with good measuring tools is needed for this.

    Questions for Zack

    Zack, some questions:
Does that flexplate have 164 teeth and a 10 1/2" bolt circle for the TC?
    Does it have "0" balance?
Does it meet SFI 29.1 spec?

I'm going to check with FRPP tomorrow regarding their flexplate M-6375-H46. It's 164 tooth, 0 balance, 8-bolt crank, but has a 11.25" TC bolt circle. I'd have to go to a different converter but I still need one that meets the SFI spec.
