    Key Fob issues

Key fob isn't working so I unlocked the door manually. When I start ed it up and let it run, I went in the house and came back the car doors locked on me, thank the Lord I had a spare key. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Press the #7/8 and the #9/0 together on your door code thingy with your key in the ignition and the doors will lock, I do it every morning when I warm my car up.

I don't have remote start. This happened on the Eastern Shore. I have a lot of dash lights that come on also. The main problem was coming back to a previously unlocked car and it locked somehow. Oh well, sounds like a trip to the dealer in the am.

The keyfob will never automatically lock the doors. The door keypad will lock the doors if the car's running but will unlock the driver door if the car is off - keys in ignition - keysense chiming and you attempt to lock it. In fact - anytime you try to lock it with the keys in it (engine off) the driver door will automatically unlock.

Yep here in MD it has been a $250 fine for leaving your car running unattended but from the officers I have ran into and talk to they only give the fines to people who actually leave the keys in the vehicle and not remote start vehicles since they are locked, key slot is in off position and all newer vehicles have Shift-Interlock (must have foot on brake to shift from Park) so as long as the remote start was installed probably a tap of the brake pedal the vehicle will shut down.

When the installer programs the Remote Starter most DEI mid-upper level systems have the option of 5, 10, 15 min or 7 and 13 min run times that is so in case you forget you left your vehicle on it will automatically turn off after set time limit.

A cop would have to be pretty hard pressed to try something like that. It's more meant for people who leave their vehicles running outside while their inside a store. I see it all the time and it would just be so easy to drive off with their car. I know here in MD there is a high % of vehicles stolen because the owner leaves the vehicle running unlocked while they step inside like a 7-11 "real quick" and makes even more unnecessary work for officers to hunt down a car when it's the owner's fault in the first place.

    +1

    Now imagine this...

You just had your car stolen at 7-11 after leaving it unattended and running. You call 911, and police arrive. They take your report, enter it into NCIC and issue you the proper citation.

Think it doesnt happen? Think again.

21-1101 (a) Leaving unttended veh. w/o stopping engine, locking ignition, removing key and setting break............. $70.00 and 1 point.
