Thread: Axle Girdle Fit?

    Axle Girdle Fit?

I'm getting close to doing my stage 1 upgrades, and was thinking about replacing the differential cover with a Ford axle girdle, part number M-4033-G1, when I have the gears swapped.

Will I have any problems with clearance with this part and the Addco rear sway bar that Dennis sells?

There is no problem with clearance, Clarence....Rodger, Rodger. What's your vector, Victor.

JOEY: "No sir, I've never been up in a plane before!"

Captain Clarence: "You ever seen a grown man naked?"

Captain Clarence: "Joey, d'you ever hang around the gymnasium?"

Captain Clarence: "Joey? You like movies about gladiators?"

Captain Clarence: "Joey? Have you ever been in a... in a Turkish prison?"

Looking at your link, it appears to be the same part you can purchase through Wes at Innovative Interceptors from T/A Performance. I beleive they make those girdles for Ford.

That horizontal landing across the center has reportedly been engraved to say "SVO", "T/A Performance", and "Ford Racing" but they are the same cover.

If they are one in the same, you will have no clearance problems.

I noticed that there is a bracket attached to the top of my stock differential cover (holds the emergency brake cable I think)....How do you attach this to the Ford Racing girdle?? It used small allen head bolts that go into recesses in the girdle....Don't think the bracket will work with it??

    Thanks,

Another quick question for the pros here: I found a dealer that will do my mods and not void my powertrain warranty! Whoohoo! They say that they can flash my PCM to calibrate it for the new gear ratio in the differential so that my spedo reads correctly. If I have them do that, just to get me on the road and working well, will I have any trouble when I plug a chip in from Dennis later? Or does the chip over-ride anything currently loaded in the PCM?

The tuning in the chip will override the flash. BTW...the chip will have the speedo correction, as well. Congrats on finding a dealer that will work with you.

Excellent. Thanks for the help, TAF, and everyone else, too. I'm leaving work early today to stop by and order my parts and schedule the installation. I'll have to wait until next month to get the chip, plugs and stat from Dennis. I'm excited to be finally getting my stage 1 stuff!

It won't fit the new cover, but the bracket is ridgid enough to hold the cable in place so it won't get chaffed as it rest on the top of the hub.
