    Question 300A or 300B

I have noticed quite a few of you have 300A or 300B next to your type of Mercury Marauder info. Whats the difference and how can I tell on mine? Does it mean it was build at a certian time or have something to do with traction control? Sorry if it seems like a dumb question. I wanna know!

    Do a search for 300A or 300B.

The B's had TC if I recall correctly.

    The 300A's didn't.

    Motorhead:

The biggest difference between a 300A and a 300B is the traction control, as mentioned above. The switch would be on the dash next to the adjustable pedals switch.

Other differences in a 300B are the lack of:

    Automatic parking brake release
    Electric fuel door release
    Full-size spare
Metal grilles over the rear speakers
    Stand-alone clock in the dash

Some very early 300Bs did have one or more of the above items.

Funny .... original sticker for my 2004 says it's a 300A. It has traction control & full size spare but, no automatic parking brake release, no metal rear speaker grills, no dash clock (it's in the radio).

All 04's are 300A. Apparently they reset from one model year to the next or maybe from one vin designation to the next. 04's get the M79 VIN designation while 03's share the GM VIN designation.

I am glad that Ford didn't decide to call the 04's "300C" since DC has peed in that pool. Imagine the confusion.

To clarify this a little ...

    The ORIGINAL 2003 Marauder was a 300A...

After the first few thousand were built, and the sales weren't what FORD had expected,
some of the toys were decontented, Traction Control was added, and it was revised as a 300B.

When the model year went from 2003 - 2004, the Model was reset to a 300A.
So the 2004 300A is more like the 2003 300B.

The biggest difference is that the earliest built 2004 300A Marauders still have the 4R70W 4 speed automatic,
and the later built 2004 330A models have the 4R75W 4 speed tranny,
and an optional Moonroof from the factory.

The way to tell what trany you have is by looking at the driver's door sticker.
Tranny code H or U is for the 4R70W.
Tranny code R is for the 4R75W.

And check your full size spare...
Its NOT on a polished aluminum wheel...
Only the 2003 300A came from the factory with that.
    Pete...

All Marauders with traction control left the factory with a mini spare. The mini spare , as I was informed, is required for Marauders with traction control.
