I think the sound that you are hearing is the compressor for the air suspension. Mine kicks on in the morning on the first start. Fix your eyes on a stationary point while looking in the rear view mirror and you can watch the rear end of the car lift. When the "hurhrummmmmpphhh" noise stops, you won't see it lifting anymore. This is normal --- no problem.

Hi Guys
Nope it's definately the A/C compressor it makes an hurhrummmmpphhh noise a couple seconds after the engine starts, my air ride compressor makes a rumbling noise for 10 or 15 seconds while it pumps up the rear.

Hi Guys
I posted this question to see if anyone knew the answer to the problem, obviously after 140 views and a moronic video link no one does.
Here is the requested (not overly clear as it's really difficult to film the A/C compressor, more light is needed I think) video, you can hear the compressor click in then half a second later hear a farting noise and see the belt tensioner twitch under the load.
Cruzer: I think the problem is caused by oil draining back into the compressor and believed I could fix the problem by fitting a relay so that the compressor engaged while cranking, this (It thought) would clear the oil from the compressor and stop the harumph noise, but I notice in the video the compressor does actually turn while cranking, then stop, then re-start a couple seconds later, I wonder if I used a timer and relay to keep the compressor engaged for a few seconds even after the key was released whether this would cure the problem.
I await the response from your dealer with eager anticipation.

Sounded like a high presure release of the clutch. It has low enough pressure for it to start enguaging the clutch then the pressure climbs to high right away and releases the clutch again.
Maybe a cloged orifise tube or dryer.

Hey bud I have the same issue on my 03 it started around 78000 don't know what it is yet . if i find out ill post it .![]()
Have a 03 82k with same thing on startup and sometimes after stop light taking off. Makes a burp vibration sound. Not the air pump.
I have the exact same problem but it only does it shorlty after I start the car and turn on the A/C. It usally does it once and then I don't hear it anymore. Definately something to do witht the A/C.
