Marauder VS CVP71 Shocks?

I have a 2003 CVP71.

How different are the shocks between it and a Marauder?

Other then the Naake (sorry if I spelled it wrong) what other options are there for the front and rear? And what are the model numbers?

The car was beat on for 147K KM before I got it so I want and need some new ones. I put stocks on the front a few months ago but now I need to do the rears. I don't mind spending money for good stuff. I just can't find anything after 2002.

Is the Police suspension mounts different then the normal ones? Anything I have found says non police.

Any info or opinions you can share would be great.

Thanks

The Marauder has the same mounting points as the CVP71 and the same shocks.

Naake is the highest performance option and also the most expensive. Many people love them and say they transform the car.

For stock style replacement you are stuck w/stock, Monroe, and KYB.

Never enough auto is the best place to pick up the Naake stuff from. The KYB and Monroe should be available at your FLAPS and many places online.

I've heard the KYB's improve the ride and reduce body roll over stock. www.Rockauto.com is the cheapest place I've found them, and if you're a member on crownvic.net you'll get a 5% discount.

I went from Stock to Monroe and back to Stock. I actually like how the ride is with the stock shocks, plus I know they will last a lot longer than the Monroe's did (less than 2 years)

I am sending my Naake shocks back for repair and putting my factory shock back on. What does that tell you.

I had the KYBs on my first MM and loved the fronts just thought the backs were too bouncy and allowed to much roll. This was even after CA and sway bars were added. I'm currently looking into a local shop who works with a suspension company. They offer coil over kits with independent settings for height and spring compression (ie adjusting the spring rate). Going to see if they can do something for the Merc at the same time I check on the kit for the wife's G35.

Does anyone have some part numbers for the shocks they are recommending?

Thanks

Naake at Never Enough Auto
http://www.neverenoughauto.com/index...tegory_id=2884

KYB's Shocks Front 551602 rear 555603

Also replace the upper mounts on the rears when you do them. I did my fronts also but it may or may not be neccessary if you did it when you replaced them last time.

KYB has P/N's for the front and rear shock mounts also:
Front SM5392 Rear SM5267 ( I went w/the ones from Ford for about $15ea can't find the P/N though. Parts counter should be able to help).

IMHO I would stay away from the Monroe's, but that is just my thoughts.

Dumb question (?): What is the impact of NOT replacing the shock mounts?

Depends on the state of the mounts you have. If they look good, no deformation or cracking etc... then I wouldn't worry about it.

My rears were all mushroomed and deformed when I did the shocks on my first MM. Same on the second MM, so I think of it as cheap insurance to spend the $20 to get new ones.

Not yet, The shop I was going through gave me the information to contact the manufacturer directly. Thanks to the help of a few guys on here I now have the complete QA1 part number list and will be talking with them in the next month for them to cross reference the QA1 parts and to see what they can/will do for the MM.

Right now just getting it running again has been eating my time and funds up fairly quickly. I will be installing the diff cover, torquing the drive shaft bolts down, and installing spark plugs tonight and hopefully cranking her up either tonight or tomorrow. Probably tomorrow as it is the NBA playoffs and the Celtics are on tonight at 8:00.

Probably won't start going after the suspension for a couple more months as I see a few other issues I will need to address before the shocks and eaton swap. I think a 31 spline setup my be in my very near future as there was a decent amount of crap stuck to the drain plug when I drained the differential yesterday. This along with having to do my brakes will keep me from the shocks for awhile.
