Need For Speed: Shift = Fail
I was at a friends house and he showed me the game. There was an option to "increase" boost, not "add" on boost for the first time. $25,000 for the smaller pulley. We can almost get it for free.
That game is far from reality.

I have it set up on my PC with a logitech G25 steering wheel setup, and i could go on for days as to why that game fails. Most of which don't have to do with upgrades actually, as I haven't found a single game that truly and accurately lets you modify a car.
1. clutch is almost always automatic clutch, meaning I can shift faster than that game could ever dream. EVERY time I speed shift, the throttle blips like I'm dumping the clutch or driving like a grandma hitting the gas before I release the clutch. 2. Handling is all wrong. Tacky in the wrong places, slippery in the wrong other places. There's no reason I shouldn't be able to kick out the rear end in a 425HP Camaro SS when I turn tight, shift lock by kicking down a gear, and go hard on the throttle. 3. Gearing and acceleration aren't quite right. Some of these vehicles absolutely trod along even with gobs of power. 4. Every car, and I mean EVERY car, in this game was recorded as though it had open header exhaust. I'm sure there are a lot more I'm not thinking of given that I'm at work right now. If you want a REAL driving sim, get Live for Speed on pc and either the G25 setup or a setup from Fanatec. I use it to practice drifting, quarter-mile runs, and I've even pretty effectively taught myself to drive standard with it, as you WILL stall the car if you screw up in that game. Most fun driving game I have EVER had, and for only the small price of $40 for a premium package option. |

If that someone is me, then that someone enjoys having a hobby, so get bent.
If not, carry on.

I'm done with video games. They used to ruin my life so I quit. I'm not saying MeBluGruv has a bad habit as long as it's a hobby, just don't turn into one of those people addicted to Warcraft!
My favorite of all time is Twisted Metal 2. I didn't think about that open header exhaust thing. LOL I just wanted to point out that in reality it's not $25,000 to increase your boost, that's all... but I bet some people in this world would be foolish enough to pay such a price.

Yeh, I'm gonna go ahead and let that one slide. It is actually possible for people to play a video game and walk away from it. Besides, the missus usually gets my full attention.

Forza3 is pretty good. Not by any means perfect but it's damned fun!

I agree about Forza 3. It is as close to modifying a vehicle to your customized preferences very realistically.
I love the option to shift manually with clutch as well. I love blipping the throttle as I downshift to get on it.
