    Manual linkage lever grommet

    Anyone ever replace theirs?

Left out from work and the shifter was stuck in Drive gear, headed back to my shop to figure out what was going on. Pulled the floor shifter apart to make sure nothing was jamming it up, all was fine so moved on to under the car. Followed the shift cable down and saw the link just resting on the trans range sensor. So it seems the manual linkage level arm has a grommet on it which disintegrated. Got the link back on the lever and then got a zip tie on it as a temp fix.

This is the shift link that attaches to the lever, slides over the lever that has a PLASTIC grommet on it and locks it in place.

A friend of mine who use to work on transmissions said I should be able to get a replacement grommet at a FLAPS. If not I found one sit that sells several different types. http://www.makcotransmissionparts.com/M463GF.html

Hopefully one of these little things fixes the issue.

    Manual linkage lever grommet

I recently had a leak in my trans seal leaver and it was fluid all over the pan and 4r70w tranmission. Although i didnt have the same problem as yours the car was shifting normal there no way I would of knew untili I looked under the car and seen the leak. The crossmember had to come out too to get to the seal and the pan dropped and refilled with 8 quarts of Mercon V. Also no metal shavings were in the pan so the j-mod is really doing it's job.

What a PITA! All I have to say is I am thankful for having a dremel cause without it I would of never been able to fix or temp fix this issue.

Here is the old grommet/bushing vs the new one. I had to use a dremel to open up the ID and shave down the OD. Glad I had bought a few packs cause first one I used broke when trying to get it on the lever assy that's connected to the digital trans range sensor. Second one I shaved just a bit more off it and got it to work.

    New one installed
