    VIN Locations

I am looking for other places the VIN number might be located on a 64 Mercury Marauder. I have found the door tag and the tag in the firewall on the passenger side. Are their any others located on the car. I was told that the rear housing might have a VIN number on it. Thanks in advance.

Passenger front frame rail on top side either in front of or behind the spring pocket. Very faint stampings that are pretty unreadable after all these years. Also somewhere on the rear frame rail behind the rear end but I have never seen it survive any accumulation of surface rust, so I have never found it. I have a 64 Galaxie XL

That's a no on the rear housing. I'm told there are VINs on the outer edges of the firewall under the fenders. You have to pull the fenders to see them. Never had my fenders off. My car has a VIN on the vertical structure behind the rear seat back, but it's rare to find them there.

There is an extended tab on the right front of the cowl where the top and front are welded together. Have to remove the fender to see it from above. It has the VIN stamped in it. I was thinking of frame numbers.

That's the one I was trying so poorly to explain.

    VIN

My VIN is stamped on the front inside edge of the fenders(near the front bolt holes) and you have to have the hood up in order to see them on my 64 Fairlane.
