ABS light and Traction control not working

I'm having an issue. Every time it rains or I wash my car my abs light pops on causing my traction light to flash then the traction light would stay on. After driving it for a hour, the ABS & traction control light went off during a wheel spin in a turn. So I use the scanner and it pulled (C1299 ford abs code, left wheel speed sensor input signal fault). Obviously, I need a speed sensor for the rear driver wheel, so what that being said, can anyone share any info on where to purchase a cheap speed sensor?

    thank in advance

The sensor just might bee loose. I'd check before buying anything.

Issue coming up only after rain or car wash indicates a dirty/loose connector issue or damaged/exposed wire outside the body to the sensor. We had a MM towed several years ago and they used axle hooks to hold it down. When we got the car back, they had damaged both ABS sensor wires on the rear. Had to replace the sensors. No luck getting reimbursed by the tow company by the way.

The connectors for the rear wheel speed sensors are inside the car under the bottom of the back seat, so they prolly aren't getting wet.

I got a Motorcraft part for Mary's car from tascaparts.com but now we have Rock Auto as a vendor, so that's another choice.

I had a rear wheel speed sensor wiggle it's way loose and popped a code. Physically checked it and sure enough it was loose. Cleaned it up and tightened it down, good to go after that.

There have been a few MM's with that condition. One was even missing the retaining bolt.

Oh I'd believe it, I'm just glad the bolts on mine hadn't backed all the way out. Both were just barely loose enough to wiggle the sensor.

That's why you need to check before ordering parts.......

It wasn't damaged so I guess I have to change it. Do you know how to take the back seat off

Push the front of the bottom of the seat down and toward the back...you'll feel the hooks disengage...then just lift the seat out. The upright part of the seat stays in place.

You'd have to use a dealer scan tool or one of the big snap-on scanners. They can pull up abs and air bag codes. The normal handheld scanners will only pick up PCM and BCM codes.

Not true. I bought my Actron CP9580 specifically to read an ABS code on Mary's car a couple of years ago. Although I already had a code scanner, the $209 I paid from Amazon saved me a lot more than that by not having to take the car somewhere.
