    How to check Trac Lock?

I have a feeling I have a one wheel peel again.

Is jacking up both rear wheels, putting it in gear and asking the wife if both wheels spin the best way to test?

Give her the video camera, go do a series of slow burnouts and her video the wheels

If one doesn't spin like the other, then you know it needs rebuilt or replaced

Find a remote straight away and power brake it, burn em up & see what's on the ground. Simple enough I think, unless other advice comes in.

So spinning while lifted will not determine if there is an issue? The car has to be under pressure?

Under load. Up in the air would be like being on a sailboat and blowing toward the sail trying to move the boat

LOL I never thought actual advice would be to do a burnout.

    Ok then.

Measure the height of the rubber left behind to gauge if slippage is happening.

Open differentials can burnout with both wheels, its just kinda rare and only during ideal circumstances.

You could jack up only one side of the rear with the transmission in park and the parking brake off, and try to spin the jacked up side by hand. Should have a considerable amount of effort to turn it, or even better not be able to turn it. If there is little to no resistance the clutches might be worn out.

    jack up both rear tires
    car in neutral
rotate one wheel in forward direction
other wheel should rotate with it
have some try to hold one wheel, while rotating the other
it should not rotate freely, both wheels should have some engagement free standing in the air,, when your clutches are good.
If a wheel spins freely from the other, or even will rotate in the oposite direction - your clutch pack is not good.
It may still burn both wheels from momentum, even most of the time, but still not correct.

I've tried this method with my truck. It is supposed to have an E-lock rear and when the truck is off the ground both wheels spin in the same direction. When the truck is on the ground only one wheel will lay rubber. Been this way since new. Some day I'll put a tru-trac in it.

Do some burnouts Dom, black marks should give you your answer, although parts do wear out. Are there any unusual noises, smells etc that have you pondering your question?

Some rears, cone type for example, will rotate the same direction, but wear will allow them to not fully engage under load.
did you try to hold one wheel during the in air rotation test? if you can hold one still, pretty easily, it most likely will not burn both while on the ground.
if while rotating one, you can't hold the other from rotaing the same, it's posi.
I've been testing used clutch type rears for 35+ years this way, and when they hold together firmly, burn posi rubber. When the spin freely of the other, one legger.
