    rear disc pad installation

My new rear brake pads don't slide as freely as they should. They seem to fit to tight on the slides. They are the correct pads. What is the correct way to install rear rotor pads ? After you install new pads I slid caliper on rotor. Then made pad ear contact on bottom. Then slid forward the top with difficulty. Or should I have done it top 1st then push bottom ? Either way they fit to tight. Yes, I did use brake lube.

You should replace the ant-rattle hardware when replacing the pads.

In your case it sounds like the coating they put on the backing plate maybe too thick. The pads should be a tight fit.

Even though they come with new slides you should use s stiff wire brush to clean the Caliper brackets, then the slides wont have to "open" over the caliper bracket further than normal

I did use new slides that came with the pads. I also used brake lube. I did wire brush everything & under the old slides. Were the new shoe ears made contact it was very tight to tight. I was wondering if I could file the coating off a little on the ear metal ? This would allow a better fit. This would allow the pads to freely slide as they should. Is that done commonly ? Is there something I have overlooked ?

The pads should be a tight fit with the new anti rattle hardware in place.
