MM Windshield took a nasty hit

Has anyone had their MM windshield replaced by Safelite?

I've had other car's windshield replaced by Safelite. They are good and very professional. But they don't carry Carlite glass. So I use All Star Glass for the MM. Go to carlite's website and you can see who carry's the original glass.

I have DW1506 by PPG on mine.

    Here is a link:

I paid $110 including installation at a place by Pick-a- part.

They were extremely busy the day I went.

Just tell whomever you use that you want the Carlite glass.

    Carlite Glass

I called the insurance company back and requested a replacement
identical to what Ford installed at the factory (Carlite)
    The insurance Company agreed.
Saflite will have the new windshield next week and will install it at my home.

Tomorrow I will be getting back to trouble shooting the power mirrors
which stopped working. I suspect a wire somewhere has either corroded, been chewed by a creature or was damaged by chaffing.

Had the windscreen in Phoebe replaced at a Safelite place a few years ago. No muss, no fuss.

As for your mirrors, it could also be the switch contacts...much the same as the window switches can get dirty.

There is -absolutely- no voltage in the wire harness going to the switch
which operate the left and right mirrors.

The windshield nonsense was an unneeded distraction. While l was busy making calls etc I put my inductor amplifier and tracer down somewhere and I cant remember where.
As soon as I find it again I will be able to precisely locate where the fault is.

Yup. Safelite installed carlite on mine. They did a great job. Only thing is they did not install the one I asked for which was the one with the dot matrix at the top. I think there are three different types of windshields for our cars. But I'm happy with it regardless. Just make sure its the one you want before they install it.

I believe there are only two windshields - one with the dot matrix and one with tint.

There's two types of Carlite glass for the MM. Safelite calls them "shaded" (top) and "non-shaded" or "Clear" (no top shading). Their order phone call center seems to default to the nonshaded glass. I like the shaded top one better. If I remeber right the 300A had the non shaded and the 300B I bought new had the shaded. All the Carlite glass comes with the dot matrix on the bottom either shaded or non-shaded. I think the price was slightly higher for the shaded Carlite. I'm too lazy to go digging for all the windshield receipts right now.

This past weekend the new windshield was installed it was not a good experience. The installer while working on the car climbed up on the door frame.
Can you believe that guy installing the glass used my cars door frame as a fkng step ladder!
Paint and trim is scuffed up and scratched.
