    Oil Filter Changing/Spark Plug Replacement

I'm patiently waiting for the dark blue version. In the meantime, I've looked over a Marauder very closely including routine serviceability. The oil filter looks to be a bear to get at and to get out. Has anyone done their own oil change and is it as bad as it looks?

Also, does anyone know how hard (or the flat rate) to get the valve covers off to get at the plugs? Or how are they gotten at?

Thanks for any insight or info.

    spark plugs/oil filter

Spark plugs are a breeze... Oil filter is a job as the engineers allowed just enough room to get the filter in/out AND the oil runs all over the cross member under the car.

spark plugs are under a plate with 2 small bolts on top of the valve covers and have coil over plug wiring on them.. I changed my plugs to the cooler versions as Im running a chip and 91 octane fuel. On a cold engine and taking my time I had all the plugs pulled anc changed in under 30 mins. Changing the Stat and the oil was a bit more involved but the plugs are a cake walk.

    Hope this helped.

Thanks for the info. If I've got this right, the things that need to be change every 30,000 to 50,000 miles are easy and the thing that needs to be changed every 5000-6000 miles is a *****!!! Not enough reason to not buy the car but makes about as much sense as a driveshaft that can't handle more than 117 mph in a "muscle car"!!!

HEY - after installing Dennis's "Performance Package" the OEM Drive Shaft seemed fine up through and including 132 MPH.

At that point, I temporarily lost my concentration on the Interstate Highway, as the Drive Shaft came off, ripped up through the Floor Boards, and flew out the Moon Roof. At that Speed and RPM's, it poll-vaulted over several Mack Trucks, a Diamond Reo, and speared a guy in the trunk driving an older model Renault Daphine. He looked like a "Corn-Dog-On-A-Stick" in my rear view mirror, as I coasted for several miles until I could make it off the the Interstate, and tool into an all-night White Castle Restaurant.

Or, all of this could have taken place in a dream, after a snoot full of Gray Goose. Those French Grain Farmers have had a bad year, and I felt the need to help 'em out (and could feel some of their Pain, the very next day!) .

The 132 MPH on the OEM Shaft is true though. I'm having Dennis's Matrix Metal Drive Shaft intstalled this Monday, by Automotive Specialists here in nearby Noblesville, Indiana.

I plan on having them DYNO the car before and after, to gauge the Performance refinement that Dennis's balenced (to 6000 RPM) Matrix Shaft makes.

Plugs are a 15 minute job on the 4.6 DOHC... Easy simple simple.

Try plugs on a 5.4L S/C in a Lighting, now THAT's a pain... Took me over 3 hours the one time I did it...
