    M-6009-B53 Ford Racing shortblock

Summit racing has them for $5,500. Ford racing says that the compression ratio would be 10.2:1 - with stock 4v heads. Not great but could perhaps run more timing.

Features of the short block include:
    • Built from all new parts, not remanufactured
    • Based on BOSS 5.0 modular block (4.6 architecture)
    • 94 mm bore
    • 5.3-liter displacement
    • Eagle forged H-beam rods
    • Eagle forged stroker crank
    • MAHLE forged pistons with three-valve cylinder head compatible valve relief
    • Compatible with two, three, or four valve 4.6 heads, including Trick Flow
    • Compression ranges from 9:1 to over 10:1 depending upon cylinder heads

Not going to buy one now, thats for sure. but was wondering what ya'll would think of this shortblock with fresh 03/04 4v heads and 96-98 cobra cams N/A with my SW headers etc. Worth it?

wonder how much extra to make it with flat tops - l10.9:1 would be better.

still not worth it, not for that price, you could build something blown and make so much more horse power for the money.

Price wise it's exactly where it should be, i would have liked to see better rods , pistons over Eagle brand, but your getting what you are paying for, all in all its a good buy , you can't build that same shortblock for that price.

A non-stroked engine is better than a stroked.
    Less piston speed.

Any HP/TQ guesses for N/A with 96-98 cobra cams, SW headers and fresh valve job 4v 03/04 heads? (10.2:1 CR) It would have to be better than stock engine, although heaver. I see the Boss block alone goes for $1200. I wonder how long it will be made available from Ford Racing...

I already have the heads, front cover, ported lower, new timing set, cams.
For S/C later on would be possible as it's forged etc. But want to stay N/A

Wonder how this would compare to stock stroke 5.0 with 94mm pistons.
Like the T50 below, which is pricey but very nice.

+1 on better crank and rods desired.
    +1 on good value

Given the non-ideal compression and 3v pistons, not really the best option for us.

I'm just waiting for it to be released! With 2V heads, it has a stupid 10.9:1+ compression ratio and makes just under 400 horses, so it should be a lot of fun.

I was thinking 380 wheel area as well, great numbers... but again... for the price... 380hp at 8K is not a good deal.

not a big enough displacement increase to equal spending the money on 4.6/boosted.
And the set compression not so boost inviting. Should offer it with dished pistons for blower applications. Price about like buying stoker assembly and machining a used 4.6 block. The deal is getting a 'new' block.
Sometimes a seasoned, freshly machined block specs out better than new castings.

in a 2V car, his could be a nice option to building one from scratch.

In general, increasing stroke length, increases friction which decreases HP. I'm sure there is more to it than that..Bore size, Ring gap etc..all play a part of it.
