    New Firestone 255/55/18

Does anyone have any feedback on these tires? I am sorry to see that I can no longer acquire a KDW2 for the rear; these seem like a competitively priced alternative. If I could get another 3+ years and 30K miles out of these I would be happy. I am kind of in a pinch because I have to pay for school in 2 weeks and also need tires to pass my inspection, which is six days past due.

I would bite on those but their tread depths differ

Yes, the stock size it 245/55/18. I, like many others, went to the 255 because the stock size was extremely hard to come by a few years ago and the stock BFGoodrich tire really sucked; mine wore out every 15K. What I mean by "the tread depths differ" is just that. The two KDW2s that are qued up by the aforementioned search display different amounts of wear.

After replacing the OE rears every 12K miles or so, I switched over to Nittos 420s. They wore like iron and were great for me in the rain.

The new Firestones that you linked seem to have a very similar thread pattern.

If it were me, I would try out the Firestones. However, the Nittos are a sure thing.

I'll be sad the day I end up replacing my KDW2 rears but I'll change to 265/50-18 at that point.

Search for 255/55/18 s in any brand. I think I currently have Dunlops on the rear. Around 125 each I think they were. I had my service guy search for cheapest 255/55/18s. I would rate them about the same as OEMs so far, but they are still pretty new.

Unfortunately, it seems as if the Nittos are out of stock. I guess Ill go with the Firestones.

Ah gotcha, thought you meant the treads were different depths on the two particular tires for sale.

    Take a look at Hankooks.

Just my opinion, but I'm not too happy with the Nittos (420). If I can't get the stock BFG's next time, I'm leaning toward the Goodyears. On the pricey side, but I like the feel at high speeds better than the Nittos.

Yeah, I am also thinking about the Goodyear F1 GS-D3s simply because I would be able to buy a matching pair of 235/50/18s for the front end. They are expensive but I like the look.
