These cars don't have a separate neutral-safety switch. That function is performed by the DTR (Digital Transmission Range) sensor. It's mounted on the driver's side of the transmission. It might be out of adjustment, or it could be the shifter cable, which is more common.
Next time it won't crank, push the shifter hard forward when you're turning the key. If it starts then, it's what I said above.
