New gaskets Bubs. Usually in stock at Ford for like $2.00 each. I never could understand why so cheap, but chose not to question..

It's all done, shifts are nice and tightened up and reverse engages much faster. Took ten quarts to fill it back up, didn't drain the torque convertor.

Hi stryker, sorry for being unclear. No, you don't need a tune for a JMOD. what I meant was that you can change the parameters of the shifting if it's too harsh with a tuner.

I knew the answer. I was going to tear the car apart today but will order gaskets Tuesday instead. Instead of rushing into it I worked on tagalong's car today. Ol' Girl received newer plugs, belt and PCV out of my blue....... gotta recycle!

    Jmod next week.

Loud did you remove the springs?

Jmod info from full thread: http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forum...ad.php?t=82460:
I ordered a Racing HP 4R70W Super Tuf seperator plate. It is thicker to prevent the cracking problem from being hammered by 1-2 actuator piston.

    Cost:
$24 for separator plate (info below)
$4 for gasket 1 (from Nicco, my friendly local Ford parts dude)
    $3 for gasket 2
(from Nicco, my friendly local Ford parts dude)
    Filter Kit
    10 qts ATF

This is a must do for performance car lovers and one of the cheapest mods!

Before or after going in the dryer?????

BTW... Ford recommends 75w/140 oil for the rear.

Word of advise. Put teflon tape on the load studs before installing, and don't torque them down. They need to just hit the caps.
