You mean 8 numbers, not points.

From an Engine Builder magazine article on Octanium:

"...the performance chemical category has suffered in the past from exaggerated hype or misleading product claims,” said Bruce Hendel. “For example, many octane boost products claim increases in terms of octane ‘points,’ when a point is nothing more than 1/10th of an octane ‘number.’ Using points allows them to report gains with bigger numbers, but it’s misleading to customers who don’t recognize the difference between a point and a number.”

This is the crux of what I was saying in my earlier reply. If the increase is given in points, don't waste your money.

wife put 87 octane in my baby

Sooooo jealous as the only "race fuel" around here is 100! Which Jeff said is a joke at best. I'd have to drive an hour and a half to the track to purchase 110 or C16.. Or order it by the 5 or 55 and get bent over on the shipping. I should have built her for E85.

Before I supercharged, I ran 87 for quite a while and noticed nothing, nada, zip. No pinging or performance issues whatsoever.

The Volvo Club of America tested several Octane Boosters.
"Lucas was one of 2 that worked.
When mixed in a 100:1 ratio of fuel to additive the Lucas Octane Boosted averaged a RON reading of 101.4 and a MON rating of 91.8. Giving Lucas in a concentration of 100:1 an AKI of 96.6 when mixed with 93 pump fuel. With a ratio of 100:1 this make Lucas the most concentrated additive.

When used an a concentration of 50:1 103.1 RON was achieved with a MON of 93.5 giving it a AKI of 98.4.

To date Lucas octane booster is the only booster tested that had significant results with only one bottle in the tank. One bottle is enough to make 10 gallons of 96.6 octane out of 93."
