Here's my post from January 2007 .... I think that I got the ones for the Lincoln Town Car or the Ford Expedition. Can't remember. Five years and still OK.

Ford Part Number -N804384-S (comes in a package of two for $8.40). Seems a little pricey for two little rubber bumpers -- but WTH -- its driving me batty. It's embarrassing too.

So far, so good on the way in to work this morning. I even tried out a couple of the "rough" spots on the roads to give it a test for squeeks. Seems to be working.

Mine squeeks, driving me crazy. Ordered the bumpers (THANK YOU), and did lube the hinges, and the latch (THANK YOU AGAIN) and it stopped for 1/2 day.

When the bumpers get here I will lube them and install them and re-lube the hinges, and try the electricians tape too.

I also adjusted the hood height studs before, lubed the top and that helped for a day too.

I think it may be in the latch--as at the dealer they did something and it stopped for 6 months (they wouldnt tell me what). It may be that they had better greese than I.

HEY! Someone suggested it above. At a whopping 17,000 miles Id bet it is not too worn, at least not enough to "grove". I'd bet it is in the hinges.

I've been hearing that hood squeak for the last 7 years and 130k miles and it drove me nuts to the point it became normal.

Did you fix it? If so HOW?

Mine squeaked also. It was definitely the hood. I Lubed the latch, the hinges and the hood bumpers. Stopped the squeak for a couple of months. Time to do it again now. My moms Grand Marquis squeaked also. Same remedy worked.

Try adjusting the stops up a 1/4 to 1/2 turn. I cleaned the recesses and glued some velcro (fuzzy side) into the recesses and lubed them. Seems to hold the grease better.

You need to lock-tite the studs that the bumpers are on - they vibrate and screw down. Ask me how I know. I haven't had to adjust them again in over 10 years/130k miles.

Hardware will work best - at the time I was still trying to figure out why the squeak came back so I used a few drops of blue lock-tite and I never had to check it again.

Furniture pads on the hood where the round bumpers touch and some standard grease. I do it about once a year, or when the noise comes back.
