Starting to Plan for the 2014 Hot Rod Power Tour....

This will be our third Hot Rod Power Tour and I always like taking an air conditioned station wagon on the trip.

So here is what I am putting together....

We will be swapping in a fuel injected motor and AOD into our already pinstriped 1966 Ranch Wagon:

My buddy Tony already tackled the Mexican blanket dash cover and seat covers:

I am using the 341 and AOD out of my '91 Church Van for power.

And of Course I always get an EVTM when we start one of these swap projects since I will be using the processor and harneses from the Church Van.

    Got our fuel pump:

And our intake (which is already off to the powder coater):

The valve covers were already powder coated so we can test our our color scheme:

Our power front disc brake kit arrived already as well:

After the First of the Year, we will pul apart the Church Van and then start taking apart the existing drive train in the Wagon.

Then all of the reassembling will begin.

This should be a fun, low-buck project.

Anyone else going on the Tour and/or putting something together for it?

Yeah, dad and I are taking the Marauder for 2014. The to-do list is pretty long, but at the very least I'm hoping to throw a set of mufflers on it, install the Addco rear swaybar I bought from RoyLPita, and have the roof and hood paint addressed.

We had been talking about buying and building an easy project (some ideas were a mid-'70s Mopar a la Cordoba, some goofy AMC product, or maybe a '60s full-size Pontiac with an engine swap). But we then decided that we should take a 'known entity' for our first Power Tour so we can see how it goes. Plus, it'll have A/C.

If we like it good enough, and it's in the budget, we'll likely build something for 2015.

Side note: that's a badass Ranch Wagon. If we happen to cross paths, I am sure my dad will talk about the time he 'borrowed' my grandma's Country Sedan and hooned it around the block. He was 14.

This is not a light car but the 351 should put down decent power.

I won't know how fast it will be until it is done, but I think it will be decently fast when it is done.
