    Recalls

Well, got my lighting control module recall back in January. Have heard nothing since. I don't have problems so not sure if they ever contact me I will do anything. I did buy the upgrade offered here but have not installed it yet.

But worse, I just got a recall on my 2006 Fusion. The dreaded Takata airbag recall. Luckily it is for the passenger side. I don't sit on that side. . And I very seldom have a passenger anyways.

The issue with Takata airbags (as I understand it) is that they don't deploy in a controlled fashion, they simply explode, possibly sending shrapnel everywhere, so even if you aren't sitting in the passenger seat, you could still be injured.

Yup, there's been a few deaths were the bags went off and killed people from metal shards in the neck. Minor accident turns deadly

Hope these marauders don't have them

This is the most current list I could find as of June 1st, 2016 (for Ford vehicles). Although it doesn't look like it affects us MM owners; it may affect us if we have a DD or if a loved one is a driving an affected model:

Vehicles recalled for driver side inflators

    2005-2014 Ford Mustang
    2005-2006 Ford GT
2004-2006 Ford Ranger built in North America

Vehicles recalled for passenger side inflators

    2005-2011 Ford Mustang
    2005-2006 Ford GT
2004-2011 Ford Ranger built in North America
    2006-2011 Ford Fusion
    2007-2010 Ford Edge
    2006 Lincoln Zephyr
    2007-2011 Lincoln MKZ
    2007-2010 Lincoln MKX
    2006-2011 Mercury Milan

There are additional makes and models that are also affected. The list is here:

    http://blog.caranddriver.com/massive...vehicles/#list

    To quote:

"June 1, 2016 — Ford is recalling almost 1.9 million vehicles to replace Takata passenger-side frontal airbag inflators as part of a massive new recall of 35-40 million vehicles from numerous automakers.

The airbags are at danger of exploding when they deploy because the chemical ammonium nitrate used to deploy the airbags can become unstable due to time, heat and humidity."

No word yet on the panther platform, but definitely something we should all be watching closely.

Isn't it great how Ford did the lighting control recall and notified everyone in January 2016 ? Seven months and no follow thru with parts to do the job. Just how serious are they to correct the problem created in 2002 ? Customer service is very poor I would say.

Just had the driver's side airbag replaced on the wife's 2007 Charger a few months ago. Just got a letter last Friday saying the passenger side airbag needs to be replaced..... will notify when parts are available.

I think I was the first one in the country to get my light module replaced.
