First time I saw Top Fuel cars run was Joe Amato at Maple Grove.
We were wayyy up in the stands when Amato came out in his TF rail.
Everyone around us was putting in ear plugs .....
We thought: "What a bunch of wussies!!!"
Joe Amato does his burnout and we are like this:
DEAFENING ROAR that shakes your body and lungs!!!
Can't imagine hangin' on to the steering wheel of one of those beasts as it runs sub 4 seconds at 325+ mph!!!
BTW: If you lined up Brittany Force and her TF Dragster (3.676 Second ET record) at the tree
and let a McLaren F1 (Top speed 243 MPH) have a flying start and hit the starting line at top speed....
Brittany would beat the McLaren to the traps*....and be carrying 100 more MPH..
That's how sick TF dragsters are.
(* In a 1/4 mile/1320 ft race.....they only run 1000 ft races now because they get over 330 mph in 1,000 ft.)
