We take a piece of ABS plastic and trace the old speaker on it. Then you can cut out what you need. A Dremel tool with 1/8 drill but cuts it great.

You can use ABS plastic or MDF. I opted for MDF to use with my 5.25" component system. Here is the woofer mounted in the factory speaker location with the adapter plate.

I am thinking of putting the tweeter and woofer on the adapter plate... not even sure if it will fit.

Friend of mine suggested Infinity over the Pioneer 3 ways I was originally going with. If it doesn't fit I'll be researching infinity 2way/3ways vs pioneers.

That is a decent plan for components on the rear deck, but I think that you would want a closer location for the tweeters in the front. Personally I am planning on making some custom sail panels so the tweeters will be right by the a-pillar.
