Thinking on looking for a G8 GT and wondering on what you guys think of them. Never driven one but they look nice and can make some good power with just a few things. If so, I would be letting my trilogy marauder go.

Don't do it my buddy has one and with a Lideo tune. Its fairly quick but its still a cheap chevy the build quality is not as good in my opinion, and he has had a few problems with it but the dealership fixed it.

MERIDEATH aka "Purrrty Mean" was born on June 20, 2002.
Production #1685 of 7,838 and is #1685 of 7093 Black Beasts.
Delivered July 27th 2002, she revealed herself.
Unable to be tamed by her 1st owner, she was left to roam about & raid in search of plunder.
Through the pillage she became mine on January 23, 2008 and since then...

I was a GM tech for a while before I started with Mercedes. Shotty quality in my opinion. Not as nice as a Marauder. All my opinion. It is easier and somewhat cheaper to upgrade power wise with GM but I wouldn't do it. I don't know if I'll own a newer GM, Just my '90 K1500.

Don't get me wrong. I love my marauder, just wanting more power and not sure if there is much more in it while being safe. And not wanting to build a short block for it.

Well in my part of the Country we have a few Supercharged and modded Marauders that have punished numerous Mopars and G8's and assorted Corvettes in the DMV .and they are not sellin them. Many members know them by name.

Why would you post this question on this site? Unless you are looking for moral support to not get the G8.

I have owned an LS2 Pontiac GTO which shares a lot of parts with the Commodore. I remember it having a lot of wheel hop. I would rate the interior build quality of the GTO/Commodore as on part if not slightly better than the Marauder. I really liked the wide power band of the 6 liter. In stock form it is a much better match for the vehicle.
I believe all G8 GTs have DoD which has its issues and should be removed.
I do not have any sort of brand loyalty and try to keep an unbiased mind. 2 of the 4 Marauders I have owned have blown spark plugs out of the head. 03's had 4 thread heads that are known for blowing out plugs.
Other than the spark plug blow outs, one 4r70w transmission has grenaded and I replaced rear axle bearings and seals on another.
Sorry I don't have much first hand experience with the G8. They can be in the 12s with some basic bolt ons.
The G8 is a better performance car and a lot more capable. Even I know that.
The Marauder looks better and sleepers are more fun.
IMHO.

Get the g8 and make me a great deal on your marauder.
A neighbor of mine had a G8 and alot of problems with it. He traded it in for another car.
