    HMMMMMMMMMM.....

Maybe if you need to ask which Leatherman tool to use, you shouldn't be using one................

    Sorry, just couldn't resist!

It is always best to use a real screwdriver and a pair of pliers, but try carrying a screwdriver around in you back pocket, forget it is there and sit down in your Marauder. I guarantee you won't be happy.

Using the Leatherman while fishing or hunting is real handy. The Leatherman tool is not a substitute for real full sized tools, but it sure can come in handy when that is all you have.

I have a Gerber, been using since 1997. Love it , especially for the retractable pliers and ability to lock blades in place.

    Who's macgrubber?

    Roger-
A few years ago I had the nickname macgyver

Buddy of mine with a 87 limited with a stage 1 on center popped a freeze plug testing a brand new motor

I was driving my Dually with 2 gallons of antifreeze, a factory 4.1 motor, and a framing hammer

No joke, hit the used freeze plug just right, crawled under his car on the side of the road and fixed it

That freeze plug stuck for 5 years

    I was a hero. LOL

When I was working RF-4C aircraft in the Air Force they were issued to us. Was a great tool to button up and close panels. After the USAF I used them working on rental properties. Since then I have been working finance and haven't had much use for them other than having them in the car for emergencies. When I was using them I really loved having the assortment of tools all in one. As stated before nothing beats the use of a real screwdriver etc...

Attached photo is my MM and one of the jets I crewed, now setting on a pedestal at Shaw AFB, SC. Well that was until a few days ago, took it down temporarily for construction.

If i had it to do all over again i would have done a 20 year career in the Air Force as a Load master, i always envied that position, i should have listened to the recruiter, but at 18 it just wasn't getting through to me.

I often thought about X-training to be a loadmaster, but got married and I was traveling to much the way it was.

Retired after 23 years Air Force in 1995, retired again just this last Friday (24 Jun) with 15 years Civil Service doing the finance thing.

I hate to think where my life would have ended up if I hadn't joined the service.

While being a butcher is a respectful profession, just didn't think I could have made it a career. I liked keeping all of my fingers.
But best of all I got to use Leatherman tools :

I love my Leatherman Wave, The knives are quick and easy to deploy. My favorite, however, was always the Gerber. I like how fast it is to get the pliers into action with one hand. If I need a knife fast I always have a better one close at hand. Most squared away troops carried a Gerber or a Leatherman. I required it for every man in my section. It's easy to strap on your gear and you never know when a small handy selection of tools will come in handy in the field. I've gotten away from carrying one since I retired, because civilian life isn't such a "do it now" thing, but I still keep one in each vehicle.

I'm kind of late to the thread but I've been using Leathermans for the last 20+ years. A good inexpensive one is the "Sidekick". I picked one up at Home Depot a couple years back for $25. It has all the essentials you need. It has a clip but I bought a leather case for it on ebay. The case is Made in USA and has a nice Bald Eagle stamped on it. Think it's made for a folding Buck knife but works well for a Leatherman.
