2003 750 HP Custom built Marauder

    2003 Mercury Marauder
2003 4.6L SVT Cobra Engine Assy - custom built - 2,000 miles on engine build.
Built 4R70W Trans w/ PI Convertor
This car was originally built by Paul's High Performance out of Jackson Michigan. It was a feature car in the Muscle Mustang & Fast Fords magazine May 2003 issue, Big, Black & Bad article.
The car was purchased from the estate of the original owner, brought back to Michigan, power-train was removed and custom built to handle the power from a newly installed Whipple supercharger. The car was just chassis dyno'd and tuned by Paul's, ending up at 600 rwhp, which is approx 750 flywheel hp.
The car has been upgraded with no expense spared, KVR Brakes, Metco Suspension, HAL Adj Shocks & Coil-overs, Fuel Delivery System, etc etc. The list goes on!
If you are seriously interested in owning a one of a kind monster, this is your car! The ultimate sleeper!
For serious inquires only, please reply by email, and I will provide contact information to view the car by appointment only. No trades, reasonable offers considered. 517-937-1488 Mike Jackson Michigan

".... 600 rwhp, which is approx 750 flywheel hp" - That is incorrect. The parasitic loss caused by the driver train is 60hp resulting in 660 fly wheel hp.

    Question Huh?

Not sure what driver train you came in on but 17-20% barometric loss for automatic is the correct information!

Maybe if your tires are about flat. Everything I've seen shows 60-70hp lost in these automatics. It would be my opinion also, 660-670 flywheel hp.

    It's going to be a percentage , 600 RWHP+ 17-20% = closer to the op's claim

The theory is that once the loss has been taken out of the equation, no amount of additional, or less hp for that matter will change the original loss. I.E. Same trans, driveshaft, and rear.

It's really not even a percentage of anything, rather a given load for that particular car that won't change.

Incorrect. If I put a 1,000,000 CHP in the Marauder it will take 20% or 200,000 HP to turn the drive train? Why would the drivetrain "drag" majicaly increase to 200,000 HP?

Assuming Fords advertised CHP of 302 vs DynoJet RWHP on stock Marauders of ~242 = a drive train "drag" of ~60HP.

Assuming no dramatic increase in RPMs the drivetrain does not increase "drag" with the amount of HP.

You will lose approx 20% of hp from the flywheel to the rear tires, through a 4R70W and 4:10 gears. The Marauders & automatic Mach 1's have always been in the 18 to 20 percentile. The stick shift cars are 15-17 percent. This motor was built looking to make 725 to 750 hp with the compression, cams and Whipple blower. It came in actually more than we were expecting.

You do not lose a %, you lose the amount of power it takes to turn the drive train and that amount is ~60HP.
A % has nothing to do with it.
