    Clean '93 Fox Body

Project car? I was out skoping the used car lots at local dealers and came across this clean '93 Mustang LX 5.0. The previous owner had done some exhaust work to it (note the "police interceptor" badge). The interior was amazingly clean considering it was light grey cloth and is 12-13 years old. The console cover was loose, but man, was in great shape. No old car musty smell, either.

    Here are some shots:

Now that would make a heck of a 'Sleeper' with a 392 Stroker Windsor stuffed under the hood....
With the rigid, light notch body style that thing would move!!!

Plus you could dress out the Stroker with the OEM valve covers, etc. to make it look like the EFI 5.0.....heh, heh, heh

They are REAL proud of it. No wonder it's been on their lot for weeks (I saw it a month ago on the front line).

The price they quoted was $8988. This is about twice the Kelly Blue Book for this zip code, for this car equipped the way it is. (Blue book retail was $4400)
It has 122,000 miles. Yeep. Other than the exhaust, I saw no performance mods, and though it is clean, it isn't perfect. $9000, sheesh, Logan was selling his sweet vintage Cougar for $13,000 and it was essentially finished.

Granted, you negotiate down from the $8988, but shoot.

It has the police package. The small (4cyl) seats, the hood insulation delete, the "calibration certified" 160 MPH speedo, & the matching full size spare are part of the package. The blue silicone hoses, I believe, are an option. Also stock SSP Stangs ran "10 hole" 15" wheels (civilian Stang would have GT seats and 16" Ponys).

The "Police Interceptor" badge is an add on.

MM traded in 8/9/13 @ 128909 miles. It was fun for almost 8 years. I met airmercpun on 1/17/14. He was the new owner of my former ride. -Now gone.

Update: back in the game with a late build 03 GMGS with some MM add ons like Escape audiophile radio w/Sirius sat radio, rear sway bar, catback exhaust, and header panel.

    Update!!

I replied to the dealer that the LX was way way overpriced, and they responded today. According to them, they consider this a "collectible" to justify the price, however, they dropped the price to $7,500.

According to the 5.0 registry, there were 22,902 non-GT 5.0's built in that model year, including this LX. There were also two feature cars (like Marty's) and SVT rolled out the Cobra that year. There were 26,101 GT 5.0's built.

    So, collector premium pricing? Feh.

This is what makes this one a true cop car.
