Do those "radar signs" make you speed up?

When you see one of those radar signs that clocks your speed and then tells you how fast you are going do you speed, do you adjust your speed to the speed limit or do you ignore them completely?

I speed up but only if I think that there are no LEO's watching.

I didn't put that in the option because, invariably, someone who speeds up even if there are cops around would question why it was there.

I adjust my speed and then look at my speedometer to see how accurate it is.

Every now and then when I'm on the interstate I use my stopwatch between the mile marker posts (always exactly one mile apart) to check the speedo. 55 mph takes 65 seconds to go one mile; 60 mph, 60 secs (duh); 65 mph, 55 secs.

The way I wear out rear tires I want to know what my speedo is doing regularly.

That's what I usually do, so I guess the closest poll option is, slow to speed limit, but then sometimes I ignore them.

If its near a school in NYS, ya'll better be slowin down and watch for that flat top. 1st offense is $250 minimum and/or a 15 day all exspense paid vacation as a guest of the county. Since a less than upstanding citizen ran down a 8 year old girl infront of her house with her mother watching, its a really, really, bad idea to pass a school bus or speed in a school zone here. The real kick in the teeth is he was recently aquitted following a bench trial. what has our justice system become

I would not advise anyone to do anything but obey speed limits in school zones during school hours.

If I were an LEO, I would station myself by one of these things and use my own radar gun to check speeds. Not only would I get delibrate speeders, BUT I would also get individuals with radar detectors. As soon as they see the box, they know it's just a box, and speed up again and have no real way of knowing if there's other radar 'watching' them.

That's why when I see one I either ignore the box and watch out (since I don't normally go over the speed limit but 5mph) - or I slow to the desired range.

Some of the more expensive radar detectors have a count function.(Valentine one for example) not only tells you how many signals it is receiving but also gives a sound tone for each new one. The arrows will also tell where the LEO that is arriving to write you the ticket is coming from so that you can be ready to plead guilty.

Same in this state. There are varying rules for school zones here.
On is 'when children are present' another 'at all times'
another 'when yellow lights are flashing'.
