Thread: Rear cat delete

Those who have a complete stock exhaust and remove the second set of cats say the exhaust note increase was just what they were looking for.

No rear cats on my car. Pretty quiet at idle gets a little rowdy at WOT. Still not loud enough to my liking.

Thinking I will try the cat delete first, really don't want too loud, my 2000 Stang I just sold was LOUD! So loud it was hard to talk on the phone on the highway (of course the 3.73 gears keeping the revs up didn't help that either) so now kind of digging the quietness. Also thought about installing electric exhaust dumps in the cat delete pipe so I can flip a switch and go loud when it's time to play! Even thought of the perfect spot to put the switch, forward end of the overhead console by the windshield, nice and hidden!

I've got just the rear cat delete. It really gives the car a nice growl on acceleration but cruising there's almost no difference between no cats and stock. I cut the cats out and welded in straight pipes. I think it cost me $25 bucks in parts all told.

I just had my rear cats removed ,I love it wish I would of done it sooner l don't listen to the radio anymore I just listen to my exhaust notes and yes it does give it a little more get up and go with them removed .

Loud exhaust is funny until you live with it for a while! When I was a teenager I drove around with open headers for a week until I could get exhaust on the car. You could hear that thing for miles.

My passenger side rod that the cut out door mounts to broke clean in half when I was leaving the hotel in Louisville for my 5 1/2 hr ride home with my wife... We stopped and removed the broken shaft and opened the drivers side to balance out the engine. It was one VERY long ride home. She's a trooper!

Needless to say they were removed, rebuilt, and shelved..
