    Transmission overhaul or replace?

I have a 2004. I believe the stock transmission is the 4R75W. I am preparing to install a 4.6L stroker with 550 hp (includes blower). My question is,

should I replace my 98,000 mile transmission with a high performance alternative

    or

rebuild (internals) with parts from who?

With either replace or rebuild, please share the make and model info (url would be great).

Depends on you pocket....no budget do a new trans from a reputable builder (I have a Lentech). If cost if an issue get it rebuilt with better clutches and a J-Mod.

The Lentech Strip Terminator AODE/4R70W looks to be the one. $3400.00

Yes. I saw it last Saturday. It is so damn gorgeous! The engine builder was planning to use a trusted transmission shop to 'beef up' my transmission. I prefer to replace it with a Lentech or better.

Unfortunately, Hughes does not make an upgrade kit for my 2004 Mercury Marauder. They referred me to Lentech. Hughes did not offer a new transmission that I might consider.

talk to Dan aka silver fox on the phone for 5 mins and you will understand why he is recommended.... the man knows his shyte. Also, when you call you talk to Dan and only Dan. He may not return your call right away and he may take a week or two to build the transmission, but it will be damn near perfect every time.

Lentech is no longer owned, or run, by len bertrand. as such quality and service are marginal at best.

    Okay, Lentech is out.

Silver Fox, TCI and Performance Automotive are all choices.

I talked to Dan at Silver Fox today. The call lasted about 10 minutes. I learned more in 10 minutes than I expected. "Dan Is Da Man!". I really like his approach and suggestions. TCI has some sexy ****, but the personal touch from Dan makes my gut happy.

MartyO is getting ready to share his suggestion.

If this man (88grandmarq) suggests another builder than himself, it must be good!
