Anyone actually use one of these adaptors with an IPOD?
    I had a FRD03-AUX before I installed an AVIC-D2. Worked great.

    Installed Audiophile CD-6

The radio was going out in my 2004 Marauder...replacement unit from Ford was $550.00.............so I've been following this Thread with interest... ...Bought an "Audiophile CD-6" from "HI-FI Sound Connection" on eBay... $159.95 and free shipping... had a couple of scratches, but works and sounds really great...They supposably rework/rebuild/refurbish the units for resale...Oh, pulled insulation/foam off top of Woofer too....
Thanks again for all the information

Just wanted to let everyone know that you can also use the factory radio with FC at the end of the part number versus FD. They are interchangeable per the book. Same face, same connections, same sound, same radio. Put one in my car and it work great.

After reading this thread I got inspired and searched for an Audiophile 6L8T-18C815-FD.
Just got it installed, wow big difference.
Much better sound (shows me I am gonna need better speakers) and more volume.

Thanks to everyone who made this post. If you don't want aftermarket head unit, this is the way to go. Steering wheel controls and subwoofer work and it looks great (I thought the cassette slot made the original look dated).

By the way, the site I got it from seems to have quite a few if anyone else is interested. Little expensive but the unit looks great, works perfect and shipped here in 3 days.

PS our stock radios have DSP in them too, it took me 2 years to figure out how to turn it on, but they do have it. Makes a HUGE difference in sound quality, I always thought the stereo sucked until I finally figured out how to turn the DSP on recently.

    that shows the difference.

the 6l8t-18c815-FD also has a more powerful amp 190watts i think. they are kinda hard to find.. but there are a few on ebay from time to time.

Will either one of these fit a 2004 P71 that has the older, 16-pin connector? If I understand the post above, the 6l8t-18c815-DD will?

    Thanks.

I just ordered that head unit and picked up an adapter to make it work with my P71's older connector (world plug).

Here's a related thread with some useful links.:

IIRC, Press the DSP button, then use the SEL buttons to scroll between the different DSP modes. I believe the modes are along the lines of 'driver only', 'front seat passengers', 'all speakers', and 'off'.

    Thumbs up Wow!

WOW! Very pleased with my '06 Escape Audiophile. Installed it today. Way more volume and improved sub-woofer bass. Works great especially with the 4 Infinity speakers. The sound really shakes the car. I also like the in-dash 6 CD changer - very smooth. I always get CJJD errors from the OEM trunk changer. I now have to try some audio CDs in the new unit.
