    Let's chat about Car alarms

Looking to put an alarm on one of the marauders.
I've always been a viper man and never had any issues. But never had one on the MMs.

    So...
I'm looking for 2-Way, Remote start...

What do you have?! Pros? Cons?

I have the Ford "Code Alarm" with remote.(Ford no longer uses code alarm)

The alarm to tell you the truth I really have no need for.

Bottom line if they want it (your car) bad enough no alarm is going to stop them.

Doesn't viper smartstart have gps tracking. And tells you via text when it goes off.

This is the setup I decided to go with.

I am most likely keeping that setup now. Didn't need the whole phone smartstart thing as you have another module to buy, yearly activation costs and monthly service costs. The few people I know who have it have seen a 2 to 15 min delay in alerting, lock/unlock and remote starting. Some have switched back to a standard 2-way system.

I just keep receipts and have insurance. Doing repo work for a short time I realized loud noises won't do a damn thing in deterring someone from taking or damaging your car. Mainly because the alarm goes off AFTER the damage has been done. I can't tell you how many times we would break into a car in broad daylight at a mall and no one gave a single **** about what we were doing.

Remote start would be nice though. Other than that a simple direct kill switch to the ground on your car's ECU will make it deader than a door nail.

    +1

Remote Start and a hidden kill switch FTW!

You could also remove the fuel pump relay.

I mainly want remote start. Get the car to operating temp before moving. Have it cold on hot days and warm on cold. I'm a firm believer in if they want it then they will get it no matter what you have done to it. Siren or not nobody in public cares now days lol. I just want a decent system

No. You use it to disable the start or fuel circuit.
