    Question 4r70w

    Is the tranny I have in my 1997
    (stock) Mercury Grand Marquis the
    same tranny we have in the 2003
    Marauder?

    I believe so, except for the torque converter. The high-stall converter in the Marauder is what gives the tranny the 4R70W+ designation, if I recall correctly. I've also heard that the '04 MM has a slightly different tranny (and different designation?), but I'm not really certain about that.

    yes it's a 4R70W. There may be some slight differences in some internal parts since 1997.
