from what I read years ago, they put light mist of paint on the inside of collector pipes for about 2', run a WOT pull and look for the prominent burnt area = put crossover pipe there.
I have found automatic trans cars this is usually about 18" from where the 4 header primary tubes merge.
I have not researched more modern methods

I have some vids from the track, but I don't have anything close up. I'll try and take some this week for you.

    I'll stick to my H-pipe.
My exhaust guy was impressed with how evenly the heat coloring was at the crossover after I showed him this picture.

My X-pipe was a little loud for my taste, actually roared under throttle. I contacted Todd Fisher at Grand Muffler of Georgia (770-426-0763
    toddfisher@grandmufflers.com
GrandMufflers.com). He had me install a Magnaflow Tru X-perforated muffler in place of the X crossover. Sounds much better now.

Think I'll go back to him and switch X for the H. Folks claim it's a "fake" X anyway, plus want more rumble.

Biggest difference was the drone in the car. H-pipe so much smoother.

Nice clean install - I have this same setup. (Except for SW headers and 3" cats in the front) No rasp or drone.

I spoke to Todd and he has sold his muffler business. I talked to him at length and he said that he has installed many X & H pipes on Marauders and they sound the same. He said the drone is related to vibration and flex couplers may help that typical 1800 - 1900 RPM drone.
