    Oil pan baffles

I know the function of oil pan baffles. What I do not know is how critical their are for street use. I plan on driving hard in corners, but I have no plans to do any flat, drag or race track type driving.

So, are oil pan baffles mandatory or a nice-to-have?

I remember a brief discussion about 10 years ago.

If you do a search I don't think you will find much on it.

I know a few members have auto crossed w/o reporting any issues.

Do you have a list of all your proposed performance mods to put it into perspective?

Agreed, as I searched and found very little.

I didn't do anything with baffles per se, but I did put in a windage tray. And aftermarket oil pan. I had to modify the sump to clear something, I believe it was the passenger side header. The pan may have had integral baffles, I can't recall after all these years.

Edit: the pan did have integral baffles http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forum...4&postcount=27

It appears most high performance cars have a windage tray and slosh baffles.

    Ford GT350

    Nissan GTR

    Corvette C7

    Dodge Hellcat

The engine uses a new oil pan with extra baffles and windage tray to keep the oil where needed under hard acceleration.

I am not familiar with your engine build enough to know what was changed as respects the oil pan or pick up.

Based on what I see you don't need anymore than what the stock MM has.

I have a Canton performance oil pan (forget the model #). Apparently I only have a windage tray - no baffles, crank scraper or recovery pouch.

Talk to lifespeed about this, I remember him posting about it not too long ago.

Just remember if youre swinging donuts, hit a figure 8 every now and then so you can be sure the oil pump isnt sucking dry
