    Bug guts vs Clay Bar

After my last road trip there were lots of smushed misquitos and other bugs on my front bumper and mirrors. Washing with the fuzzy mitt removed some, but not all of the chunks Figured I need to get my girl cleaned up before the big car show this weekend.

    Before

    Drivers side mirror

    Drivers side bumper

After a few minutes with the clay bar and clay bar lube (car wash soap and water)

    After

The pictures make the paint look worse than it really is, but two MN winters are really beginning to take their toll on the car.

Thanks to Jason for the tip on using the clay bar.

Great tip. thanks Guys. You folks from north of somewhere close have no idea what bug damage is. These Love Bugs, so named because there are always two connected exist by the billions. During the season they will smear your windshield so that you cannot see in only a few miles. Rest areas have piping installed that spray water to clean windshields as you drive thru the exit. This is a members work ride after 20 miles. I have seen worse. Dennis

Holy crap, that is nasty looking. I have read that they are very acidic and will etch the paint if you do not remove them quickly.

The love bugs stink - literally. Good thing for MM's is that they are attracted to white.
