Description:
|
I have installed the "Addco" sway bars on my Marauder, back first then front. Here are my views.
There was a noticable difference in the steering around turns. It felt like the rear wheels were trying to beat the fronts around turns. the frontt of the car rolled while the rear was very stable.
I then added the front swaybar. Again, a very noticable difference, the car now stays flat around corners. The oversteer understeer condition caused by the imbalanced suspension was corrected and the cornering much improved,

Notes I've found helpful on install:
F Overlord
Sway bar install is about 1 hour's work, if you're slow...and have to do it by yourself...on your back...
The only tip I can think of is to make sure you use a good marine grease on the bushings that attach to the axle housing...a kind member with the service manual told me to torque those bolts to 18 ft/lbs. As for the end links, tighten them until you can just barely rotate the center sleeve (tube) by hand (per Addco's web site)...it's just a straight 1-for-1 replacement, so everything else is pretty obvious...
*Oh yeah...I did think of one more thing...Addco says the sway bar should be installed with the car either on ramps or on a lift that picks the car up by the wheels, not the frame...don't try to install the bar with the rear wheels hanging...
--------------------------
on my install I had to cut the original bolts off. Getting those wrenches up on the top bolts was a pain and I wanted to go with all of the parts that came w/ the setup. Keep that in mind if you're having troubles with the install.... and I'd recommend the ramp or lifts over any recommendations you find on the site to use jacks. See notes above.

Pros:
|
ZERO body roll, turns corners like thats what it was made to do.
|
|
Cons:
|
More firm ride, notice bumps and sharp dips

I had front and rears put on at the same time. I immediately noticed a difference backing out of the shop. Wheel feels much more firm and heavy. Car tracks perfeectly and you have excellent road feel. Great mod.
